The rules for using BookBuddy.
Last updated: 2026-05-17
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of bookbuddy.me (the “Service”). The Service is operated by the entity identified in our Impressum (“we”, “us”). By signing in, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
BookBuddy lets you upload EPUB books, track your reading progress, and chat with an AI assistant about the parts of each book you have already read. The AI is configured to avoid revealing content beyond your current reading position, but we cannot guarantee zero spoilers in every scenario.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you create an account on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have the authority to do so.
You sign in via Google OAuth. You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, sign out from your Google account immediately.
You retain all rights to the books you upload and the messages you write (collectively, “Your Content”). By uploading content to the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you (including sending relevant excerpts to our AI providers to generate answers).
You may upload only books that you have the legal right to use — books you purchased, books in the public domain, or books for which you hold the necessary rights. You must not upload pirated content or any content that infringes the intellectual property of others. We may remove content and suspend accounts that violate this rule. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, please contact us with the details required for a takedown notice.
You agree not to:
Responses from the AI assistant are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. They are not professional advice and should not be relied on for medical, legal, financial, or other consequential decisions. You are responsible for evaluating the AI’s output before acting on it.
We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We are not liable for downtime, data loss caused by upstream providers, or scheduled maintenance.
BookBuddy offers a free plan by default. Optional paid plans (Pro and Ultra) provide higher daily limits; the price and what each plan includes are shown on our pricing page before you upgrade, and any payment requires your explicit consent. Paid tiers may also be unlocked with an invite code. We may change plan pricing or features and will present any new terms to you before they take effect for you.
You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, with or without notice, depending on the severity. On termination, your books, conversations, and account data will be deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under German law (including liability for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health).
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for disputes with merchants, legal entities under public law, or special funds under public law is the registered place of business of the operator (see Impressum). Mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence remain unaffected.
Questions about these Terms? Please use the contact details listed in our Impressum.
